Spring has come to the end of the GW

Japan has a collection of national holidays in May (known for the “Golden Week” as a Japanese slang) and every TV news shows are doing boring interview (typical questions like “Where are you going from now?”) with people who are getting on the air-plane or Japanese bullet-train around the terminals. Some kids are always saying like “We are going to stay at my grandparents’ house in Hokkaido” or like that, and other parents say like “we are heading to Hawaii and have fun time with my kids” with smug looks (maybe I envy you).

Then I was always wondering why do every news shows interviews at exact the same locations as if they dare to do so, and ask the same stupid questions when I was 9 years old. Then, as I get older, I gradually understand and sympathize with such farce. NHK, the Japanese national broadcasting service like BBC in UK, really try to do exact the same interview and show us exact the same kind of clip as every years’ one. It is really strange and seems like an annual traditional event of NHK.

However, as you know, this year was different. There were almost no passengers around the Tokyo station, and kids are staying their home in this GW. This is just terrible. I really hated the boring interview so far, but this year was the first year when I miss the stupid clip for the first time. As there were no farce interview, there was no real Golden Week.

In every Golden Week these years, I was very busy to be a coach of the club activity in my high school. I was always saying like “There are no GW for Japanese teachers. We can’t even go to stay-overnight trip in this precious season…!” before. This year was a bit different though, literally, I was not able to head to overnight trip again.

However the prime minister of governor of Hokkaido prefecture say to stay home, we people have a certain limits. So, I try to reach out to nature, and practice the guitar. There were late signs of Spring here in Hokkaido (the northern part of Japan), cherry blossoms booms really beautiful.

May 5th was a national holiday of “Child’s Day”. I’m 27 years old but it seems I’m still a child.

The time I was playing the guitar with my poor technique was very relaxing time. It seems that the air and temperature and humming of birds are in harmony with me and the whole universe. My lifespan would be extended by this practice.

Anyway, somehow I could survive this terrible Golden Week with the guitar. I will go to work to school from tomorrow, but there will be still no students, and in terms of that, it is not the school I think.

Let’s finish today’s blog with introducing a song which I accidentally fell in love listening to some radio DJ Mix. Original song was recorded around 1994 or 1995 and it sounds like a bit City Pop music. Original song was a theme song of a Japanese anime, but the song itself has a very beautiful and strong message that echo in me in 2020. Especially, the lyric of hook of this song is impressive. Here is my feeling translation.

Third Love is the title. I have no idea why its title is 3rd love.

あなたを 奪うため 生まれてきた気がするの
(Anatao Ubautame Umaretekitakigasuruno)
I feel like I was born to steal you

誰かを 傷つけてしまうのは よくある罪の一つ?
(Darekawo Kizutsuketeshimaunowa Yokuarutsuminohitotsu?)
Is it a common crime to hurt people’s feeling?

Thank you very much for reading.
